A letter from our Principal
Dear Parents & Guardians:
I hope that you have enjoyed your summer break and have made special memories with family and friends. Welcome back to school! We are anticipating a remarkable 2022-23 school year at Holloman Elementary.
I am honored to have the opportunity to both lead and serve the staff and students of Holloman Elementary in my new role as Principal of HES! I am also looking forward to giving back to the military community. My family has been in Alamogordo since 2003 when my husband received orders to HAFB. As a result, I have devoted the past 19 of my 23 years in education to APS, teaching multiple grades ranging from elementary through high school, as well as serving as a district Instructional Coach, a Systems Instructional Facilitator of a School Improvement Grant, and Assistant Principal of Desert Star Elementary School.
If you are returning to our school you will see many familiar faces. At the same time, we are excited for the opportunity to welcome new staff and students to our learning community. It is my pleasure to announce that Kathy Roush will be joining the Holloman Elementary team as Assistant Principal! Mrs. Roush grew up in a military family. She is a former Holloman Elementary teacher and district Instructional Coach with over 19 years of experience in education.
The incredible, dedicated staff of educators at Holloman have high expectations and are gearing up for a challenging and productive year, promoting excellence in teaching and in student learning. Our overarching goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning. You will discover that Holloman students are kind, compassionate, and resilient. Together, we strive to create a positive school culture and an environment that is joyful and inclusive, where all students and staff feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our focus will be on ensuring student and staff well-being, while building positive relationships.
A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. Children need support from both the home and the school in order to be successful. We encourage you to actively participate in your child’s learning this year. Families can stay connected and informed by following the APS district website, as well as our Holloman Elementary School page, for important updates and information. As partners we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities for the success of our students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, should you have any questions or concerns.
